The Head of Ewade Ruling House of Igbooye, in Eredo Local Council Development Area, Lagos State has called on the Chief Of Army Staff to immediately call his men and officers to order and ensure the immediate release of members of ruling House who were unlawfully detained.
The members of the ruling house were arrested on Thursday and held hostage over the family's vast parcel of land at Gbojuwara and Talase villages, Igbooye in Eredo Local Council Development Area, Epe, Lagos State.
The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Head of Ewade Ruling House, Igbooye in Eredo Local Council Development Area, Epe, Lagos state, Otunba Abdulwasiu Musa-Adebamowo.
It was titled: "Invasion of Ewade Ruling House And Holding Of Members Of The Family As Hostages On Family Landed Properties At Gbojuwara And Talase By Nigerian Army Personnel On Thursday 25th May, 2023."
Otunba Musa-Adebamowo said men and officers of the Nigerian Army invaded the land at the instance of three property companies ( names withheld) which are laying claims to portions of the Ewade Ruling House landed property without the authority or consent of the Head of the Ewade Ruling House and other principal members of the family.
He said the parcel of land is already a subject of court cases filed by the Head of family against a dissident group of the family in suit number EPD/8996GCMW/2022 and pending at High Court of Lagos State, Epe Judicial Division before Justice Wasiu Animahun.
According to him: "an Interlocutory Injunction has been granted against the defendant therein and his agents and privies which include the aforementioned companies.
"Indeed, the said companies had already filed another action against the Head of Ewade Ruling House, Otunba Abdulwasiu Musa- Adebamowo and one of the principal members of the family, Chief Abdulbariu Olugbenga Quadri in suit number EPD/13149LMW/2023 at the same Court 1,Epe High Court, Lagos State.
"It is therefore unfathomable how the men and officers of the Nigerian Army will allow themselves to be used against civilians and be dragged into land fracas that originated from family headship dispute.
"As at the time of making this Press Release, the members of Ewade Ruling House held hostage and whose phones had been ceased by the rampaging men and officers of the Nigerian Army have not been released and therefore their safety and well-being are unknown.
"The Head of Ewade Ruling House and the other principal members are fervently pleading with the Chief Of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army to use his good offices to ensure the release of the members of the family."
They also appealed to him to prevent future occurrence of the horrendous and unprofessional conduct of a few men and officers of the great Nigerian Army."
